Post by: momule on October 14, 2009, 09:10:58 PM
Im looking at this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134576)   Anyone here have this card and microtrack?

I remember seeing a list somewhere but didn't find it in a search.

I used one when I had my MT with no problem. Just buy from a reputable dealer as there are fakes on ebay.

this is the exact CF card I had a problem with.  I have 2 of them, one gave me a problem but the other did not.  I read 1 star reviews on Amazon that certain CF cards (and larger sized ones at that) cause problems with the MT II.  I don't know if it's really the cards themselves or the compatability with the MT II.

where did you buy them? ebay had tons of fakes on it and kingston usually works good

Got two 8gb Kingstons at the same time from Newegg.com. Had them shipped to me at my hotel for the dmb Deer Creek shows last year

I use a Transcend 16 GB 400X card that runs about $50.00 from B&H Photo and it works flawlessly on both my Microtrack I and II!

Now the other 8gb Kingston screwed me during a recording, it did not switch files after 1:55 min or 1.86gb during a 24/48 recording, so I just bought a Lexar Professional 8b that says it's without Backup N-Sync (whatever that means), well the MTII would not even turn ON!!!  All other cards I have (a 4gb Kingston, a 4gb Sandisk and (2) 2gb Sandisks and a 16gb RiData) work just fine.  The 16gb RiData changes files after 1.86 gb just fine.  Both Kingston 8gb's do not let the MTII boot on, you have to hold down the power button and as soon as you let go, it shuts off.

I guess I'll try a Transcend now since I've read that's good one.  I just want to have an 8gb and a 16gb that are both reliable and change to a new file at 24/48, other than that the MTII works fine now since I turned OFF the DMA setting under Options, another thing I read up on here on other threads.

Finicky little fucker, isn't it??

This is the same card that makes my Tascam HD-P2 freeze up and act all weird. I purchased mine from NewEgg as well. I would stay away from this card. The first time I put this card in my HD-P2 it took forever to be recognized and then even longer for the initial format of the card. I should have known then it was a sign of things to come. Even when reformatted in the HD-P2 it says there's only 7 hours and 46 minutes of record time on the card (my other card says 8 hours and 1 minute of record time available after a reformat). Also freezes up instead of seamlessly starting a new file when the 2.0GB limit is reached. Another sh*tty thing this card does, is begin recording the second set and then suddenly shuts down after a few seconds and the deck freezes up.
