Title: MP-3 Creative ZEN X-Fi2 plays FLAC
Post by: tfs8271 on October 19, 2009, 10:15:19 AM
I'm not sure this is the first to play FLAC but.......

the ZEN X-Fi2 supports multiple audio formats including the much desired Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC), which delivers audio without compromising on its original quality.

That's cool!
I am looking for a new mp3 player and this should fit my requests!

I am sure this is not the first player to play FLAC files, the old iRiver can do that , perhpas without being rockboxed.
The Rockbox mod can make any player (that can be rockboxed) to play a lot of files, including our beloved FLAC.

I wonder if this Creative has a line-in and/or it can be rockboxed...

Watch out for these.  I had a Creative Zen mp3 player and the thing shit the bed within a year.  I got a white screen every time I turned it on and it was essentially broken for all intents and purposes.  Shame because I really liked the unit when it was working.

I went with a Cowon instead and haven't looked back.  It also plays FLAC files.  Fantastic unit.

I have a creative zen vision m and love it!  been going strong for over three years now.   the wife and I both have a small zen stone for the gym etc and love those as well.  I had issues with it but a firmware update fixed it.

so just adding that I've had great luck with creatives.

for the last few years I've been using a rockboxed iriver for flac in the car.  that may change soon.  but the 32 gig version is over $200.

I have the Nomad Jukebox Zen (20GB).  The thing's 6 years old and still rocking.
