Hello,
Which one would you recommend  to record quiet atmospheres as well as loud sources.

The two recorders are very similar in preamp noise.  I like the Sony external mics a little better.   However, in either case, quiet atmospheres will require external mics to produce satisfactory results.  The Sony battery life is phenomenal.  I prefer the layout of the R09HR's controls.

I don't have the R09HR, but I find it hard to believe it is as quiet as the Sony.  The Sony is *extremely* quiet.  It is great for both ambient and louder recording.

And, yes, the battery life is incredible.

Thanks for your comments , i have DPA 4060 as external mics that i was planning to use for ambiance recording.
