Looking to do a taping and found this site. Amazing resources. I am looking to spend $400 CDN for concert taping as well as private jam session recording. Will move on to gear-aquisition-syndrome later
The CMC-1 stereo cardoid mics from SP, along with the mini battery power supply, and the DR-07 seemed like a good starter kit and will run me $339 US.
Am I missing anything? Would you recommend a different setup for auditorium-taping?
Thank you!
EDIT: Ended up going with the AT U853 cards with a external battery power and the DR-07 as per research on the mic discussion forum. More flexibility at only 60 more dollars (guess it's noodle soup month for me)

Good choice. I really like the way my at853's sound with the dr-07.

I think you will like the set-up. I like the 853's too.
Very caring staff at Sound Pros. I just bought the Tascam DR-07 from them and had a very nice experience.

Be sure to get the low sensitivity option if you record loud shows. You don't want your mics to overload.
I love my AT853's and various caps, but if you don't need mics that take switchable caps, getting CA-14 cards and a mini battery box from Church Audio will cost significantly less and will sound as good or possibly better (they come with the low sensitivity mod standard).

Just ran my 853 cards>9100>dr-07. Really like the combo...think the at and tascam sounds mesh well.
