I remember reading on here somewhere about some kind of "feet" you could put on the bottom of a stand to make it more stable. Somewhat unsurprisingly, searching "mic stand feet" doesn't really get you much in the way of useful results, so I thought I'd put the question again. I guess if nothing else one could use those rubber pads people use for chairs, but something that actually stuck on would be nice.

I'm way into DIY. I had an idea to use a tennis ball. Cut a hole in the ball, and fill it with silicone caulk, then insert a cork wrapped in saran wrap. After the silicone cures, remove the cork and it will leave a hole where the stand foot goes. This also provides shock isolation on hard surfaces.

Yup, something like that... May try the tennis ball route first... esp since those glow in the dark ones are $95 (!!)

weights are good for indoors, but a PITA to carry around. Outdoors, bungee cords and tent stakes work great.

I weighted my big Shure stand by taking off the three rubber feet and sliding three 11" pieces of 7/8" drill rod into each leg. Put the caps back on and secured them with a little gaffer tape. Added about 4lbs total and made the stand incredibly stable, even when loaded up with multiple LD mics way up high. Kind of a pain in the ass carrying it around, but worth it to me for the added stability.

I picked up some rubber ferrules (rubber chair feet like these: http://www.componentforce.co.uk/userfiles/image/categories/ferruleschairfeet_lg.jpg ) at the hardware store for the cases when someone's particular about their flooring. It doesn't make it more stable though. If someone bumps the stand on a hard smooth floor it tends to slide, the rubber feet are grippier and a big bump could make it tip over instead. (Hasn't happened yet though.)

I've borrowed anhisr's stand on multiple occasions. He uses crutch tips - the rubber pieces that fit on the bottom of crutches - to cover the stand's feet. They slide on just fine but aren't super snug so you do have to be aware of how you transport it (or just remove them during transport). You can easily find the tips for under a buck a piece, probably much cheaper in bulk....
