Title: SP SB SP 8 BB > Need to disconnect between shows?

I've a rather fragile BB. I unconnect the mics and the BB  from my R09HR between shows, but do I need to pull the battery out of the BB between shows to save the battery charging down...

It's not connected to anything else and is a chore to loift out all the packing between shows.

Any one confirm that I do or don't need to do this...?

my understanding is that the battery can be left in as long as there are no mics plugged it then its not draining

That is correct. No mics plugged in = No draw on the battery box unless it has an LED but most do not.
