Title: JB3 Help Please?

Hi Everyone,

I taped UM last week, and my recording seems to be trapped on my JB3 :( . 

Everytime I try to turn on the JB3, it lights up to blue, then goes to a "Battery low screen."  Now, I have tried charging it (with two different plugs) and even swapping out the batteries with another JB3's batteries.


Any ideas?  I can come to closure if the JB3 is cooked, but I would like to get this recording off due to the fact that Jon (from UM Streeteam) gave me a free ticket to the show to tape.

sorry to ask a stupid question but, did you try with it plugged in instead of just going on battery power?

Yeah, I have.  No such thing as stupid questions, you never know :)



Also, forgot to mention when it is plugged in, it does not show it is charging... Thanks again in advance.

You can open it up and slave the drive to your pc............

while it has a 2.5" hdd, the jb3 also has a propitiatory formatting so just plugging it in wont work.

DMBprez, do you have access to another power cable? or does that one work fine with the other jb3?

If you have access to a JB3 dock, put the player in it and make all your connections to the dock, not directly to the player.

Thanks for all the responses.  I do not have access to a dock.  I do have two DC plugs and it won't turn on with either. BUT, the other JB3 isn't turning on with them either.  The one with the tape on it just stays at the low battery screen, the one without the tape on it just stays dead.

Has the big man upstairs really taken both JB3's  :'( ?

So I just poked around because I thought it was weird that it didn't work with either cable and I tried a third cable.  It works   :)

IMO it's not useless.  It's a great example of "When things fail, check and re-check and never give up until you know it's toast."  Glad you got it running.

good to hear it was just a cable.
