Title: M Audio 24/96 soundcard problems
Post by: Low Spark on December 04, 2009, 08:51:11 AM
Have installed correctly and nothing. We have trouble shot everything that we can think of. I can only get analog signal out of the rcas. No digi signal out of the dongle. Switch dongles and still nothing. R we missing something here or is the card bad. Any suggestions appreciated before sending it back.

I believe you need to use the driver software and tell the card where you want to send the signal.  I believe it defaults to analog.

I know most of this sounds silly, and no offense intended...but:

I know most of this sounds silly, and no offense intended...but:

  • Everything checks out in Device Manager?  (I assume so since you indicate install was correct, but it never hurts to ask.)
  • Are you using the correct RCA for digital output?  My dongle's RCAs aren't labelled and when I first installed I was using the wrong one.
  • On the app used for playback, have you selected the proper audio device?  (M-Audio Delta AP S/PDIF)
  • If your playback app offers the option (e.g. Foobar2000), try the Delta AP S/PDIF output using both DS (direct sound) and KS (kernel streaming).
  • A longshot:  are the digital cable and external ADC known-good?

All that is been checked and double checked. Tried 3 different coax cables and checked with multi meter all good. At this point im sure the card is bad. Just checking here to make sure I didnt miss anything in the trouble shooting. We even switched slots in the comp and still the same thing.
