Title: How to Buying Directly from Gefell
Post by: SonicSound on December 09, 2009, 09:43:21 PM
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy directly from Gefell now that they do not have a US distributor?  Or are there any European stores/vendors that will ship to the US.  Basically I am looking to take advantage of the low value of the euro.

No idea if you can buy direct. I can however recommend thomann as a good dealer, have bought a lot from them and never had a problem. I know they can deliver to USA, but it is not on their list of first choices. Flat delivery rate 30Eur. Start by selecting UK to get English text. (By the way I live in Sweden).

Low value of the €uro!  ??????????????????

The €uro is extremely *high* at the moment - it's not far off it's highest point ever.

If you are in the USA - it may appear that way because the Dollar has risen from it's low point and getting back to where it used to be.

If you compare the exchange rate now, to what it used to be when the Dollar was at its current level, you get far less €uros now than you did then.

As a comparison:-

For several years it was reasonably steady at: £1 = $1.6 = €1.45

The $ dropped so, at one time £1 = $2

The current situation is that (roughly): £1 = $1.62 = €1.1

At the moment the £ is weak but improving, the € is strong and the $ was weak but getting back to what it was.

I second thomann.de. Bought a pile of bits and pieces from them a little while back, recieved everything after 2 working days. Really efficient service.

In my excitement in finding the best pricing for a pair of UM900 and news from a friend that the euro has dropped, I misinterpreted the conversion rate and thought is was 0.68 USD = 1 Euro  ::)
