Title: Sens 421s Power?
Post by: dave570 on January 05, 2010, 08:59:13 AM
Can the Senheiser 421 mics be powered via a D8 mic input without batteries or do they need phantom power?  A friend will be getting these mics and wants to know.

The Sennheiser MD 421 is a dynamic microphone and does not require any power at all.

Dynamic mics...no phantom needed.

You will need to go from their balanced output into the D8s unbalanced input...I'll leave that advice to someone else.

Yup, 421's don't need phantom power.
They are great mics for vocals, drums, percussion, saxophone, trombone...
