Title: Tagging.
Post by: newplanet7 on January 05, 2010, 07:56:34 PM
I have just started to use the Live Show Tagger in foobar.
I have no problem doing it but I have a question.
I will also cross post this in the LMA thread too because it's part of it.

When I tag my flac files should I also tag my wavs.
I ask because when I upped tagged flacs to LMA the vbr derivitaves
weren't tagged. As in the music player they use there.
So I decoded one flac and the wav when played in foobar isn't tagged either.
New to tagging

yep you can't tag wave.  but the mp3's should retain the tags for sure.  that is assuming they convert flac > mp3 with no wave step.

for the LMA, the derivative mp3 files get their tags only from the metadata that you manually enter after uploading and before final check-in.  it doesn't matter what tags the FLAC files have, or if they are tagged at all, you need to fill in all that metadata in the check-in process if you want the derived mp3 files to be tagged.

Question:  Is Traders Little Helper supposed to do this???  I FLAC>MP3 all the time with TLH and have never noticed that it kept any tags, though I don't really pay that close attention...

Thanks,

Terry

Some audio editors, Samplitude for sure, will tag WAV files.  I do it all the  time so I know it works.  It will also export individual tracks with tags or part of the entire CD with a TOC and cue sheet.  The LT version is not all that expensive unless all you want it for is tagging.  It is a very good editor.

Correct - so the only tags are band, date/venue, and track number.

don't know.  I don't do it much but when I do I use dbpoweramp to make mp3's.  it keeps the tags.
