After many years, my Archive Python (internal DAT) gave out and I had to replace it quickly because of a huge transfer project I'm in the middle of. (It is available for parts. Only needs a new feeder drum spring)
Well, I found a great deal on Ebay for a "Brand New" Sony SDT-9000 for $129+ shipping.
Drive arrived, looking "brand new" still in the static bag. "Awesome!" I say, until I open up Sony Tape Tools to upgrade the firmware for audio (how many of you thought this would be a firmware question??)
The drive shows over 1200 hours of "Power On" time and a Drum Head Revolution of around 8 hours.
Does anyone have a Sony SDT-9000 that they remember how many "Power On" hours it had when it was new? If this is something regular such as OEM on/test time, I don't want to raise a stink, but if these drives are being advertised as "Brand New" and aren't... well, I'm not one to be kind when I receive a product that isn't what was advertised.

Could be a demo model.....sold as new....

Does the Sony Tape Tools have the ability to show drum head hours?
If not how do you get this information?

"brand new" typically means refurbished by the manufacturer
Alot of the tape drive sellers of older Sony DDS on ebay sell either manufacurer refurbished or other refurbished drives.

It was shown in Sony Tape Tools

BTW - Power on time is no big deal as this means the board has been on for 1200+ hours - Drum Time is what you are looking for (if this is zero then the heads are probably new).
There are others on the net that sell New SDT drives for less:

These could be "Brand new" as well.
