I'm new to this site and was hoping someone could give me some advice or direct me to a previous post for tips. I have a Micro Trac II recorder and want to start recording at all the festivals I go to. Thanks for your help

Ok, I found the !Read First post and see that a lot of useful information has been provided. Maybe I should rephrase my question and ask if a specific mic works best with the MT II and festival type settings?? Thanks

your first issue is going to be powering it for a fest
start looking into power options that will give you long record times based on what you need and if you can charge at night or not
did you plan on getting a preamp, battery box or nothing?
that will help you decide on mics

What's your budget for mics?
I'd recommend trying to figure a way use the digital input on the MT2. The analog inputs are not the best. Check out the edirol ua5. Its a mic pre and an AD converter. They show up in the YS often and give you a great bang for the buck IMO.

ua5 for decent price
ad20 for a steallllll

you would still need a power option depending on your mics with the ad20 though
such as a ps2 or art 2

What he said. The best use for an MTII is as bitbucket, where it still has an edge with 24bit.
Pair it up with an UA-5, if you want stealthy mics to go with that, AT853RX is ideal, comes with hardwired phantom adapters.
OK, the UA-5 is not the stealthiest device around, but I've done plenty of festivals with mine, just use your jedi skills.
Regarding the mics, it's really up to your budget and size requirements.

I had questions particular to my recorder, but we also discussed set up and mics.
