Title: AUD?? What does it mean
Post by: mediamst on February 10, 2010, 09:37:55 PM
Sorry I am so new, I saw this... AUD (zoom h2) > wav > flac.

I understand it was recorded on a zoom h2 and then to wav then to flac, but what does AUD stand for?

THanks!

Audience

(compared to SBD for soundboard). It's where your feed originated from.

And given that lineage, the internal mics were used. (If I saw this on a tracker, with the H2 internals, I'd not waste bandwidth)

I guess it depends on the show.  It that is the only recording it might be worth having just to have.

Thanks for the answer!

As far as recording from the audience goes, the zoom H2 may not be the best quality out there, and the internal mics may be laughed at by those with uber gear, but hey, I have a copy of two shows I recently went too and it sounds damn good to me and brings back great memories.

Thanks all!

Its all how you  use it! I've gotten good recordings with my H2 and I've heard recordings with expensive mics and recorders that sound like crap. Yes, better equipment used properly in knowledgeable hands will result in a better recording but you can't go by the gear alone.

That's really all that matters.

Welcome to what can become a very expensive hobby when the upgrade bug hits. Remember to check your wallet at the door. Your ears may thank you but your bank account won't.

When I first got into the game, I thought my recordings sounded minty to my ears as well.  I'm just pointing out you can increase the quality greatly using outboard mics that don't cost an arm/leg.  The Zoom H2 is the basement/budget recorder out there on the market for a reason.
