Post by: waltmon on February 14, 2010, 05:58:15 PM
I have a bunch of music on my I-river...If I upgrade the software, will it negatively effect the music files already on the unit?

Wanted to check (look) before I lept...

Thanks.

You have two simple steps if you never had RB on it, none of the steps require a freshly formatted HD or any form of data purging:

1. flash it with fwpatched bootloader
2. put .rockbox file on the HD

as for upgrading, replace the .rockbox file with the newest build.  The only thing that gets rewritten are the .rockbox files.

Just wanted to add that, when upgrading Rockbox, you should unzip the whole .rockbox directory to the player
