I need a couple more of these.
They have a rather small basket (compared to other shocks I've had) and the brass ring with the two screw sizes is key. Does anyone recognize this shock mount? I know it was fairly cheap. I just don't remember where I got it... :-[

Kinda looks like the Schoeps A20S but that wouldn't be cheap!
-
Yeah, definitely not the Schoeps...
-
Looks like the one Busman sells.

I'll send the photo to Chris to see if it is one of his.

I just looked at the ones I have from him and it is the same.
BTW, ask him if he has any smaller baskets. I can't use these with my AKG 300 bodies, even with some velcro on the inside of the basket.

Joe Meek JM27

I have some of those. Those are not the ones I'm looking for. The Meeks don't have the brass threads and are a bit bigger than the ones I want.
-
i just got some busmans and they don't have the brass insert

Damn.

but they are a newer style with felt liners in the clip so maybe the older ones had the insert?
-
I thought I heard or read that the newer Joe Meeks had the brass threads
what mics do you need them for?... they fit my 460s
-
It's a Busman shock mount. I have 2 of them and they both have this.
-
can't recall if my busman have the brass inside or not
but
if its not the busman then its from a set of sp-c4
i had those and i currently have bm mics - one set had the brass inside for sure

I got my own question answered today - Busman has a 20mm basket that is felt lined. He is going to send them to me to see how it works for me on the 19mm AKG 300 bodies. What service!
-
Can't be the JoeMeek--those don't have a cable clamp. It's some other ripoff of the Schoeps A 20 design, but at least it has a cable clamp, which is an essential part of any shock mount.

To be honest - I would forget that completely and get a Rycote Inv-7 (http://www.rycote.com/products/families/invision/) - technically superb and very inexpensive (£30 in the UK).
It will hold almost any mic. with a diameter from 19mm to 25mm.
They are so good and so inexpensive I have now swapped all my mounts over to these.

if those don't work and you want cheap
the windtech 20mm "rubberband" style work great
like $5

Yes - very inexpensive compared to normal quality mounts.
Cheaper than most manufacturer clamps.
Especially considering that they are technically the best on the market.
I said "inexpensive" *not* "cheap".

I had a pair of these mounts, they were from Nady. they were the exact same size as the schoeps a20. the JM's are a little larger, but look the same.
SSM-5 is the model.
