Title: Inexpensive Mic for voice?
Post by: moellenium on February 18, 2010, 06:31:38 PM
For a living, I produce/cast voice-over for a living and I'm in the middle of putting together a mobile recording rig for doing remote auditions and so my casting partner and I can listen to, edit, and assemble auditions while we travel.  I'm about to order a 13" MacBook Pro, mbox 2 mini, and a pair of portable monitors to be determined.  I'm looking to get advise on a present sounding, inexpensive, durable vocal microphone.  Since my rig is portable, I'd like to keep the price under $150 since it will be well traveled and prone to being replaced.  Thanks.

At that price I would look at either used Shure 87A or new Sennheiser 935/945.

I think I stated that a used 87a goes for around 150, Good luck finding a used Senn 935/945. The new price is around 125-175, expect to pay 95-136 used.

I may have an 87a in minty condition that I would be willing to sell (I am really wanting that r-44)!
