Was thinking of picking this up to run 4-mic when necessary....Also need a t-bar with 3/8" threads and figure I might as well get one that offers new options..

I have the Sabra-Som ST-2 and it's become the bar I use the most. It's very versatile.

It's also modular, you can add mounts (and replace broken ones, which I've had to do) and get different length bars. Jerry Bruck at Posthorn carries them.

the sabrasom is nice
I had/have a two mount version
the mounts and the 5/8" part that attaches to a mic stand are all plastic and sort of brittle
I had the bottom stand mount break and fail at a show- tons of duct tape fixed that
got it replaced- then the other mounts also cracked and broke.
personally I'd gets something else
I have one mount that works it mostly sits collecting dust
it's not all that lowprofile- but if your flying 4 mics that is probably not an issue.
I use another bar- and a clamp so you have two 2 mic bars
or make your own

If that thing is plastic it's pretty much out for me. All I really need is a 3/8" threaded mount (for stand and mics)..... I do already have a clamp and another t-bar so I could add 2 more mics if need be. I have not run 4-mic at all yet, just thinking I might use that option at some point.... For some reason it seems most mounts are 5/8" threaded that I see in searches.

i personally love the sabra mounts. really flexible system.
the hex bar does indeed come in 1 meter lengths from posthorn, as mentiond above. If you are in a pinch, or need a longer bar, most hardware stores carry round alluminum rod of the same diameter. It will usually be much cheaper than the expensive hex bar. The hex bar is more stable as it wont spin in the mount, but it is also limited in its ability to rotate. The round bar allows you to rotate the mounts and is suprisingly stable.... The hardward store rod can be turned black with a little spray paint or a paint marker for really small rods...

I use the SabraSom ST-4 and I have not had a mount failure. The screw socket is has a brass insert in it so it is durable. Mine gets knocked around and seems pretty rugged. I like it a lot. I also strap a carbon fiber 40cm rod to it to mount some DPA 4061's when I want a pair of omni's in the mix. I use some gaffers tape to attach the rod to the SS ST-4.
As I said, it is working just fine for me. I got it from Jerry at Posthorn. He gets first nod on all my price fixed items like mic's and recorders. If he is close on anything else I go to him. He is a good guy to work with, has been around for years and knows his stuff.

I have the K&M 23550 2-mic bar that OtheroneK suggested and use it all the time; simple, metal and bulletproof. I imagine the K&M 4-mic bar is just as durable but it doesn't look like you have the flexibility of being able to adjust the spacing between the mics. A shame, as that would make it ideal.
