so, i bought the pair of km140s from denny, which came with a pair of KA 100 cables. the KA 100's have a standard connector on one end for AK capsules, and Lemo socket onthe other end. does anyone know any way to use the KA 100's with the km100 bodies?
-
pretty sure you need this to run from lemo to km100

kcc - that is what i have - a pair of those cables. i just dont know what kind of gear fits the lemo sockets...
uncle - i think those little gizzies were made to fit the ends of the old style LC3 cables which terminated in lemo "plugs". the new KA 100 cables have lemo "sockets".

i thought those connected to the cables you have...looks like they attach to the KM100, not the capsule
-
the ka100s you have are the new versions for the old cable. the old version did not have a pigtail for the lemo connection but was integral to the ka100 itself (which is why they changed the design, the connection was not a secure one).

How long are the cables?
-
the cables on the KA 100 are about 1.5' long.
-
Old (modular) Style
LC3 + KA 100
LC3 = Old Style actives cables that connect to capsule and output via lemo connector
KA100 = Receive lemo input and connector to body/amplifier output. Came in two different configs, the one kcc mentioned and the one uncleyug mentioned.
New (integrated) Style
LC3 KA
LC3 KA = Single active cable that connects from capsule to body

What isn't secure about them? They lock. I've never had one come lose in the field.

While we're on the subject, I've got (2) KA100's I've never used for sale. PM me if interested.

These are the old KA 100 adaptors.
The new version (which is what jnorman has) is on the right in the picture below:-

On the left in the picture is the old LC 3 cable that connects the capsule to the adaptor.
The picture below shows the nw LC 3-KA cable, which connects the capsule directly with the body:-

It is what I heard but I do not recall the source of this claim. I have used my KA100s with no connection issues but they have been in the field only a handful of times.

Cool, I thought you might have seen an issue.
I accept that any connector is a potential failure point and dirt can get in the connectors so maybe thats why they changed the design. But the convenience has always outweighed the potential issues for my uses.

I don't think it was a secure thing at all.
The old KA 100 was an expensive and unique adaptor - when they made the LC3-KA cable, it made sense to use the new bottom end and put a Lemo socket on the end of a short cable. Especially as the KA 100 would now only be used by old units and for users of the floor stand that still had to use a Lemo as it was threaded down the tube.
