i have a mt that has worked perfect
but depending on the what i could poss get for it and what it would cost me to get a r09hr (or other small good analog recorder)
i poss would do the switch and get a little box now instead of holding out for the a/d version
any input on the going rate for a mt and/or the best place to get a small recorder please lmk

The R-09HR price new has come down to $299 (try www.bhphotovideo.com or Sweetwater.com).
Used I bet you can shave $100 or more off of that.
M10 is the same price new; you may wish to consider that deck. I think the R-09HR is easier to use; the M10 has a better build quality, I think, and longer battery life. Not as likely to find one of those used, though.

B&H and J&R have the Tascam DR-07 for $140. Tascam is offering
a $20 rebate if you buy by 28 Feb. The DR-07 is being replaced by

i would grab a little box to go with the mics in my sig, that would allow me to run 480 and bm at the same time but also have undercover recording options with the 853 or other small omni mics i have

The 8% is the Bing Cash Back program. Bing is Microsoft's search engine.
They frequently run deals where you can get cash back on a purchase if
the search is initiated on Bing. I bought some tires and wheels this way
and got almost $200 back.
My concern with eBay is that you're unlikely to have warranty support.
Most eBay sellers are not authorized retailers. Also, legit retailers like
B&H have a policy that allows you to test the recorder for a couple
of days, and still return for a full refund (providing the recorder and
packaging are in pristine condition.) Check before ordering.

Good advice to check, but it's easy to find low E-Bay prices from authorized dealers. A spot check just turned up the lowest E-Bay price for an HR and within $1 of the lowest price for an M10 from authorized dealers.
As to returns, mentioning the possibility of negative feedback would probably get you a return if necessary. I just bought a piece of junk from an E-Bayer with something like 99.8 % positive feedback (a phone jack extender that uses your electrical wiring for $42). Their ad says they will accept returns but won't pay for return shipping. I told them the product didn't work in my house and I suspected it would seldom work well for anyone. I said if forced to pay return shipping of $10 or so, I'd feel justified in leaving feedback mentioning what I thought of the product. Much to my surprise, they refunded my entire $42 and instead of paying for shipping they told me to keep the product and not bother sending it back.

I bought my R-09HR from SoundPro's about a year ago and they price-matched it down to $350 (back when it was $400+). I'd say go out and find a good price at an authorized retailer, then go to the kind folks at SoundPro's and tell them you're from here (TS) and are interested to know if they'll meet / beat the price. When they matched my price, I think they beat it too.

Probably good advice, but I've had great luck carefully buying from E-Bay dealers and like getting that extra 8% + 2% back in a couple of months. I don't think that would be counted when someone matches a price.
