When there are multiple tapers trying to get a soundboard recording, is each person supposed to bring some kind of splice so everyone can get in?
Just now getting in to soundboard recordings and haven't had to share plugs with anyone yet. Not sure how all that works or what equipment is needed.
Thanks.

you'd generally daisychain the decks...

Most of the time we daisy chain from one deck into the next. Keep in mind when the guy at the head of the line makes a level adjustment it effects everyone else downstream. I'm usually the guy at the head of the line, and I just don't make any adjustment unless I'm clipping hard. Also, it puts a certain amount of stress on the guy at the head of the line... if he had a failure, so does everyone else.
I have a pair of XLR splitter cables and a pair of RCA splitter cables, and use them occasionally. It helps to avoid political hassles when you get strong personalities, rather than decide who is at the head of the line, you split it off. I think I'm the only person I know who carries them though.

I always carry XLR and RCA splitters also. I would rather have 2 lead decks patched out in case something goes wrong with one of them.

May not be the best quality in the world but it works for me. You will need 2 of them for a stereo board.

I got a powered patch bay at a Circuit City closeout sale for $5 a couple years ago but I'm never in situations anymore where multiple tapers want to patch in so I haven't ever used it.
