Title: Audix 1280's with Active Cables
Post by: themonkey on March 09, 2010, 12:09:41 PM
Been thinking about picking up a pair of the Audix 1280 capsules and getting the Church modification for the active cables.  These would be mainly for allowing me run low pro and stealth at times.  I'm curious as to how how folks are mounting them.  Can clips be added to them?

I usually just fly my regular Busman set, but I'm looking for other options depending on the venue and the band.  From what little I've heard from these mics, I think they sound really nice.

I just use one of the popular types of "hat rig" but I assume that any clips that work with CA-11 would work with them (same bodies I believe).

You could also go the eyeglass route..

Not just clips but something else might work as well.
While waiting for Chris to ship his cables for my Audix 1280, I just gave a try to put an Audix micro CAP on my CA-11 to see if it fits.  Well it seems to fit perfectly.  But since I don’t want to monkey with it and causes irreparable damages, I did not turn on my Church Pre.  So I don’t know if it truly works…. It surely is tempting but I resisted an urge ;D

I decided to give a try to matrix recordings using two pair of microphone settings;
church cable with Audix micro caps and CA-11 with omni caps.  Church Omini are fantastic on the low end and Audix’s are excellent in the mid’s and high’s, so I believe they compliment each other.   I will post a few comments here after I try.

I am running Audix caps on CA-11 cables. it works fine-you'll have no problem. You might even try rolling off the Audix pair at 100Hz or so.
