Title: audacity1.3.11 - how to work in EITHER the L or R channel?
Post by: jagraham on March 21, 2010, 12:36:29 PM
using aud1.3.11, is there any way to edit one channel and not the other?  im trying to replace some crowd chatter from the L channel with the audio from R which is unaffected.  anyone got any ideas?

In the drop down list on the track (click on the arrow where the name is), select "Split Stereo track".  This will give you each track separate and you can work on them individually.

thank you!  i knew that option was there.  somehow, after 5 years of using audacity i never figured it out.  either way this is helpful.  i should be able to cut the parts with the crowd noise and replace it with clean music from the R channel.  thanks again.

Cool.  Same option to join them back together as a stereo track.

Cool.  Same option to join them back together as a stereo track.
You can also use this feature to swap left & right channels.

Just split 'em, drag left & right into the opposite order, and "make stereo!"
