Hey. I just received my JB3 and wanted to know what drivers/firmware, etc. I need to DL. And how to set it up...it didn't come with a manual, but I printed one off.

Software and drivers at Nomadness.net (http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=7).
Install the driver on your PC. If you want seamless recording > 3 hrs install the latest firmware. FWIW, I'm on firmware 1.32.02 and have encountered zero problems. Probably gonna upgrade to the latest firmware soon, though.
Not much to do for setup other than make sure you turn off the IR remote on the JB3 - it sucks juice.
I found the menu structure to be pretty self-explanatory and the manual you d/led should help out if you have any questions on the menu.

I'm not sure if you are part of the NJB3Tapers Yahoo Groups, but there was a report that the 1.4 seemless track recording was successfully tested at a recent Victor Wooten show (3.5 hours one loooong set, requiring a FF).
I'll see if I can find out more...

I DL-ed the "JBDrvWHQL_1_20_04c" file and it installed into the laptop creating a "JB3 Drivers" folder in the "Creative" folder, and a "JB2 Drivers" folder in the "C" drive. The system still doesn't recognize the JB3...and I downloading the wring driver.
I did the XP/JB3 driver.

Do I need to be connected to the laptop by USB or Firewire...or does it matter?
-
if you're running xp, i'm pretty sure all you should need to do is plug it into the usb port and windows will recognize that there is new hardware...its been awhile since i did this, i've had mine for almost a year.
you might want to try out www.nomadworld.com - its the official site and it might be easier to get around and find what you need.

Shouldn't matter if you're connecting via firewire or USB. You need at least 3 different pieces of software (looks like maybe you're missing [3] in your install?):
[1] On your JB3: Firmware
[2] On your PC: JB3 device driver
[3] On your PC: Creative JB3 File Manager OR Notmad Explorer
I'm on Win2K with:
[1] Firmware 1.32.02
[2] Driver 1.23.00 (JB3_PCWDRV_US_1_23_00)
[3] Notmad Explorer for file management
Make sure your USB or firewire port is functioning properly. Confirm the JB3 drivers are installed correctly in your device manager. Reboot. Plug the sucker in and fire up [3] and see if it works out. Let us know how it goes...

OK:
[1]JB3 Firmware: 1.10.06
[2]JB3 Device Driver is in the folder, not in the device manager
[3]The File Manager is on the desktop (With the unit as an icon. I clicked it and an empty file opened.
As far as I know the USB port is working fine. The Device Manager says the USB port is working correctly.

In the JB3's device manager, is there an option to connect the JB3? I know in Notmad I have to first connect the JB3 and then open Notmad Explorer to view the contents of the JB3. Also try turning off/on your JB3 while it's connected via USB, I know that worked for me when I had a problem before using Notmad.
-
Also, check your USB devices in Control Panel | Admin Tools | Computer Management | Device Manager and see if the JB3 shows up in the list.

I think you still have to install the driver. Take a look in the JB3 Drivers folder.
Also, you may have to have the original install files to get Creative Play Centre to function. Last time I tried, the downloads would only upgrade an existing version. I can help you with that if you pm me.

dklein: You are right! Tech Support said the DL's are all just upgrades! I have to have the install disc to run anything. A friend is sending me his disc.
Thanks for the help folks.

if you don't have it yet, send me a note and I'll set you up with an ftp download - it's not very big.
