Title: MH-C9000 AA/AAA Charger
Post by: travelinbeat on April 02, 2010, 12:56:33 PM
During the "break in" setting for my Sanyo 2700's, it's charging the batteries up past 3,000 mah--- just sounds like a bad idea.... have I done something wrong?  I know I entered the battery capacity correctly (2700mah) upon initial insertion, did I miss something??

Hi travelinbeat

You shouldn't worry about that. When using the break in mode, the MH-C9000 applies a 16 hour charge at 0.1C. If you have entered 2700, the charger will charge at a current of 270 mah so it will go over 2700 and should actually charge the battery with well over 3000 ma.

Usually the battery is fully charged after around 12 hours and after that there is an over charge that is used in order to "form" the cell.

When I charged my Eneloops for the first time, I was sure they were fakes because the current kept going up.

I don't have too much experience in this field, but if you want to find some more in depth information about batteries and charging, I would recommend checking out "http://www.candlepowerforums.com/".

It is a great forum for info about batteries and chargers.

You can find some experts' answers to your question in this thread "http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1752063&postcount=14"

I hope that answered your question.
