Title: HELP! what CAPs to use for taping big band/orchestra from balcony
Post by: syngltrack on April 08, 2010, 11:42:08 AM
Taking my son to a show at JMU tonight and want to tape it for him.  What caps should I use on my busmans for taping an orchestra from the balcony?  I plan to clamp to the rail, no stand.

Omnis would get the wehole room.  Depending upon the distance you woll have to decide between card and hypercard.  If it is far I would guess that hypercard is the way to go as it has more reach.  A card hears at 1.7 times the distance what an omni hearsd at 1.0.  This is a rough rule of thumb.  I believe the hypercard has even greater reach.  You could take both two cards and check them while the band is warming up or just on the sound of the hall when you get there.   ;o)
