Title: which baby ball gag for microphone with 21mm shank?
Post by: patchen on April 11, 2010, 03:28:56 PM
Hi guys,  I'm trying to figure out which baby ball gag will work with an AT8022 (21mm shank which is the same as the AT3031/30)  I was thinking the 20mm BBG but was wondering if anybody has any first hand experience?  Thanks in advance! :)

According to Rycote's US distributor it fits with the 22mm size BBG.  We'll see how well it actually fits once I see the UPS man next week... A lot of the Audio Technica SDC mics have a 21mm shank so this could be useful for somebody. ;D

The 22mm Baby Ball Gag works fine on my At8022 and AT3031, just needs a bit of  gaffer tape around the shank to make it snug.

I'm sure I answered this identical question on another thread somewhere the other day.

I rang up Rycote in the UK and asked this specific question and the answer was use the 22mm one as the 20mm one would be too tight.  If the 22mm one is loose add a ring of Gaffer tape to widen it out (or maybe a ring of heat-shrink? if you don't want the sticky)
