hello people
last nite i ran josephson mk 202/c606b--->lunatec v3-->hhb mdp 500
during playback i noticed audible pops and clicks.
sometimes in the right channel and sometimes the left channel,sometimes both.
i'm going to try and isolate the problem tonight/today.
any thoughts what might have caused this?
a friend of mine had the same problem in one of his recordings,and the problem was due to a cable( not sue if it was the mic,or interconnects,out cable)

ok did some research..might be my rcs spdif cable.
so i might send my hhb for service and maintanance(the retailer will probably borrow me a unit during the service time,so i can still see if it was my lunatech or mics who crapped on me)

soundz like a cableproblem to me, take a look at the v3 power cable hookup, and see if the 2 pins are near each other

thanks bean ....i uploaded a song and opened it up in soundforge,looks like very peaky distortion.the power source might also be a problem,like u mentioned

I ran into pops/clicks a few weeks ago.
What OS are you running?

i'm running hhb mdp500 md recorder.
rigth now im taping some music in my room,via my cd recorder,just to isolate the different compenents in the recording chain.

Ahhh OK...I had to switch from WIN2000 to XP to clear the pops.

approx.30 minutes.
results..no clicks pops.
assuming my mdp500 could be the problem.

Thanks for the email. Bummer that you are
experiencing this issue. Do
try to isolate the problem such that we can
either rule out the preamp
or localize the failure to it.
From what you have described, I gather that the
noise you are getting
resembles digital drop-outs. Is this correct?
Is it happening on both
channels simultaneously? Is it occurring
regularly?
To isolate the problem, I would start by ruling
out the record deck as
this is the only other device to be touching the
signal in the digital
realm. First, verify the integrity of your
S/PDIF cable. A flaky cable
could certainly cause this issue. Next if you
have another deck,
connect it via S/PDIF and see if you get the same
results.
If you do, then it is pretty safe to assume that
your hhb deck is not
the source of the problem. At this point, your
mics/cables are the only
other variable. From the way you described the
problem however, it
doesn't sound like a microphone issue. To be
sure however, if you have
another mic(s) and cable(s) hook those up to see
if the problem still
exists.
Please let me know your findings. We have seen
one other V3 that the
user was getting a random (single) click like
once every 3 hours of
recording. This issue was narrowed down to an
intermittent cold solder
joint on one of the digital components.
