Great , clear sound;
now for a newbie like me I do not get
Naiant PFA > AETA PSP-3
Isn't the SD744 good enough for direct mic plug-in?
What is the Naiant PFA?
Thank you in advance for bearing for me.

I had a similar gear chain question - why interpose the PSP-3 in there? Do you just happen to really like the sound of it with the Mk41?
-
I like the sound of the PSP3. Hadn't used it with the 41's before.

The Naiant PFA is a phantom power adapter that allows me to use the CMR's with any preamp. As far as the 744, I was running the MK21>CMC6 into channels 1&2 but I liked the 41's by themselves. Plus I wanted to upload a CMR>PFA>preamp source for haters out there.

^^ Well your results speak for themselves. Last night was my first time running the 41s (or any Schoeps for that matter) and I have to say, I was pretty impressed, especially given how less-than-ideal the room and placement were. Hopefully I won't get the urge to blow s--t-tons more money on the CMRs, etc. right away :))))

well if you sell those DPA's and Beyers you can afford a set of cmr's, some MK21's, and mounts. do eet >:D

do you have pics of the rig posted here? specifically the naiant pfa?
-
the Naiant PFA is a phantom power adapter which allows me to step down any phantom power to be compatible with the CMR's. in the picture below you will see the PFA plugging directly into the 744. however in the recording posted I have added a PSP3 in the chain.

Wow. Slick set up. I was imagining the pfa to be a box as opposed to a cable.
Thanks for posting the pic.
