I have been going through my old DAT tapes and transferring them to FLAC files. I ran across an old Drive-By Truckers show that I taped on September 12, 2002 in Raleigh, NC. The show is uncirculated but incomplete, as my two-hour DAT ran out before the show is over. I believe that I was the only taper there and am missing maybe 20-30 minutes of the show.
My question is whether it is OK to seed this on bt.etree or if they only want complete shows. It is my only recording that is cut and I don't know how stringent their requirements for seeding are. If they won't allow it, I will seed it on DIME.
Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum; I didn't know where to place it.

I think it would be fine. Especially if it is not yet circulated. There are plenty of old Dead/JGB, etc. shows that have missing songs.
-
No issue circulating an incomplete source. Go for it. Someone will appreciate it.
-
yeah, it'll be fine on bt.etree.org. however, I would add a note, either in the text file directly, or int he comments about why the tape is cut, but that you think you were the only taper, etc, etc..
-
if anything, maybe it will jog someone's memory and lead to a complete version getting out

upload anything uncirculated without question. many, or at least a few will appreciate this. it would be more of an unjustice for the music to go uncirculated than circulate as incomplete.
-
I guess I'll throw in my quasi-official word, though it's just to echo the others here. Yes, incomplete sources are fine, and to echo Jason, documentation of incompleteness is even better.

i always thought the only "requirement" for bt.etree was that the band was taper friendly and didn't mind internet distribution.

Pretty much... and include an MD5/FFP of some sorts methinks...

Cool, I'll work on transferring it and try to get it up there one day. It does sound pretty good.
