Title: How to reduce volume of drums in WAV file?
Post by: sabrewulf on June 29, 2010, 09:05:17 AM
Hi guys,

I used the search function, but nothing showed up, so I believe it has not been asked/answered before:

I recently taped a gig at which the drums were much loader than all other instruments and voices. I'm wondering if there is some editing possible to reduce the drums and percussions on my recording. Something like a filter similar to the one some TV stations used to mute the Vuvuzuelas on the World Cup games while leaving all other noises intact. But also all hints on wavelabbing, equalizing or whatever that might have some effect are very welcome. Please help.

Many thanks!  :)

Mid-side processing can sometimes work wonders if the drums have more or less side channel than the rest of the instruments. (ie. experiment with the blend of mid and side.)
