i'm looking to pick up a pair of monitors. setting my budget at ~$300. found great reviews of both of these.

Alesis ProLinear 720 2-Way Active Studio Monitor

anyone have any thoughts(good or bad) on either of these or any other powered monitors in that price range(or close to it). or know of a site to send me with more info. thanks.

sorry i hear the word behringer and i cringe. might wanna take a look on ebay for some used tannoy's. also im debating selling my jbl4208's within that price range, but i havent decided yet. i really want to get a pair of tannoy 600a's, but those are well above my range at the moment

"sorry i hear the word behringer and i cringe. "
why is this?
I have behringer mics and I love them do thier other products suck? if so why?

behringer is synonymous with cheap components, high self noise, and poor build quality.

that's funny you say that. not that i don't believe you. just from reading the spec sheet they look like awesome speakers.

this is the big problem with behringer, that is the same problem with mackie. in the words of a friend from another site "they promise the world and seem to always deliver lemons"

I think they make a fine product. Also what is very important that jpschust doesnt point out, the make an affordable product. if you want to here an example of the mics look here....
