Title: I-river hp120 showing incorrect remaining space
Post by: palmettobum on August 02, 2010, 12:46:19 PM
I went to tape this weekend, and my rockboxed hp120 (which was completely empty, windows explorer shows 15gigs free), showed less than 1 GB free in the system info.  I ran out of space and had to delete one of my recordings that nite.  So I am just wondering why is my iriver system info not properly reflecting the amount of free space available?

Thanks.

Likely to be just a glitch.  It happened to me acouple times.  I just hit the reset button on the bottom of the unit and it fixed it. ymmv

Did you refresh the rockbox system info? If I remember correctly, you need to do that on the iriver after deleting files to see the correct space.

If you delete files on your computer, the Rockbox O/S doesn't know that.  If you delete them using rockbox it will know.  The bitch is that it will shutdown based on the fact that it THINKS the disk is full, when it may not be.

There is a way to refresh it, so it actually looks at the hard drive and updates Rockbox with the right answer.  It's a little tricky... sometimes it takes a couple of tries...
- Go into the system menu, Rockbox INFO, where you see the amount free
- push in the joystick button and hold it
- push the PLAY button (top one on the right) for a moment and release it.
- you will see "SCANNING DISK" appear
- you can release the joystick button now.

At least that's the procedure on mine... I suppose it's possible that different versions of Rockbox are different.

thanks for the helpful replies fellas.  The solution was to go into the system info menu and then hold the joystick to the right for 3 seconds.  system info refreshed and viola!  Unfortunately I was probably fine in that particular situation and deleted a good set in a panic to free up space.  darsh!
