Title: EQ advice? (John Mayer tape samples)

here's a quick sample of two different EQ samples i used in Audacity.  lemme know which one you think sounds best, or if you have any other suggestions... i'll fill ya in later when i get back home on exactly what i did.

John Mayer - Woodlands
FOH Cage, DFC, Stand at 6 feet
dpa4021 (ortf) > ACM V3 (coax out)> R-44

i prefer sample 2. the 1st sample sounds muddy compared to the high frequencies of the drum kit in the 2nd. the snare (and vox) in particular sound much more natural/crisper in the 2nd. the hi-hat and cymbals are a bit too bright to me though, maybe try attenuating a few dB around 12-14K'ish?
