Hello Friends,
I just purchased a Sony M1 and 744t to use with my Schoeps MK4 and NBOX. While testing out the machines I noticed my rigs were producing intermittent "swishing noise" every few seconds that is not present when I use the built in mic's in the Sony. Clearly, this noise is present in the NBOX or MK4's. Can anyone give me advice how to tell if it's coming from the MK4's or NBOX or the cables? Also, is their any place (person) who can evaluate my MK4's and NBOX and verify what the problem is? I live in Alaska and will need to record mid December. I have a 60 day window to fix the problem. The mic's and box seen to record ok but for the noise.
Also, I have seen some tapers using a pre-amp called NBOX PLUS. Anyone know the background on this unit?
Many thanks, Joe Ray Kenai River, Alaska

The nbox+ is an updated version of the nbox which has upgraded components from the nbox. Contact Nick (schoepsnbox) to see if he can offer any assistance since he makes the nbox.

Replace the batteries in the Nbox first. If battery power is low, noise is introduced.
There is lots of good advice for Nbox users in the "Team Nbox" thread. And in the "Remote Power" thread.

Also check cables. Get at least two identical or near indentical cables, so if the cable goes bad, you can A-B it, and trouble shoot the noise.
