So i was taping last night with my MT 2 at 24/96 out of my Minime. right at 58:00 it made a new file. It did that a few times.. Im using a 16 gig San Disk Extreme III card.......The card was formated before use..Anyone else have this happen?

I've never used an MT2, but that sounds like a 2 GB file split (at 24/96, it's about 2 GB per hour)...

Thats what i was just thinking its exactly at 57:52 on my files...i thought the MT2 was seamless? it was when i was recording at 24/44.1...................??

As far as I know it has specific file limits for all sampling rates. I usually record at 16/44 with mine and it will automatically start a new file around the 2 hour mark or close to it. There doesn't seem to be any decernable breaks between the 2 files but I could be wrong. At least I have yet to notice any skips or silent spots between the 2 tracks.
I have had great results with mine since I started using it 8 months ago.

Ya i think that is for teh roginal microtrack. I have the MT II, the black one. I thought they fixed that so it doesnt do the split. The thing is is it "doesnt" do the split at 24/44.1...but mine did at 24/96. i dont get it.

What firmware are you running? I have no issues with the seamless splits with the current firmware. Great little bit bucket once you figure out its' little quarks.

Hey Barrett its firmware 1.0.7...is that the latest?..its just weird i had this issue running at 24/96....but not 24/44.........right. ..actually i just looked on M-Audios site, i do have the latest firmware.

24/44 you are going to get much longer record times before the split
so are you sure it didn't do it or you didn't get to the file size limit for it to try and do it

ya i havent had that issue with 24/44...plus this is the Microtrack II. this issue was addressed and fixed i thought from the first model. It should be seamless with the II correct..its the first generation (grey one) did the split.

being seemless and making a new file are two different things
the mt2 could make a new file at the 58min point and it still be seemless
how long time wise were the 24/44 files?
24/48 will give you approx 4 hrs of record time before you hit the 2gb mark
so unless you recorded over that amount you are not going to know if the mt2 actual starts a new file
where in your case you did 24/96 and the 2gb mark is approx 1hr, thus the new file
to see if they are seemless you need to put the 2 files together in a audio program

Ok thats what is happening it makes a new file. I used soundforge and joined the two files together and its seamless. ya the 24/44 files i did were like a two set show, so the most was an hour and 20min, or 2 hour set.. so ya ive never reached the four hour mark or more at 24/44. So your right i wont know.

i think you are good to go, no issues
if you record at 24/48 the plus side is you will never need to join the files unless you hit 4hrs of straight recoding
the good news is you know it works at 24/96 and can join them pretty fast in sf

Your unit is doing what it is suppose to do. It is making two seamlesss files. Paste them together.
