I am trying to record myself playing the synthesizer with the Tascam dr-07. I am using the line in feature to go directlly into my synth. The problem is my recording is always very quiet. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Is it the Tascam dr-07, my synth or the cables?

Line-in expects a strong signal, usually one that has been amplified. Perhaps the synth output is not powerful enough. Why not try the Mic-in jack, which will boost the signal. You have three gain choices: High, Mid and Low. Start with Low and experiment.

Make sure you are coming OUT of your synth into the DR-07.
