Title: Audiophile 2496 help
Post by: BobbyHurley on November 10, 2010, 04:12:37 PM
I've had the M-audio Audiophile2496 soundcard for about 7 years. I did a ton of DAT transfers using the spdif IN on the beakout cable. For no good reason, I never used the OUTPUT (either spdif or rca).

Recently, I had my PC serviced and the guy asked me if I wanted to disable the onboard soundcard and use the 2496 for playback as well. I said sure. He disabled the onboard card in BIOS and updated all the 2496 drivers.

I have a set of Cambridge Soundworks satellite speakers w/ sub. I picked up an adaptor (1/8" mono female > RCA (phone) male) and rca audio Y-cable at Radio Shack. I hooked the two rca cables into the correct OUTPUTS on the 2496, but I get NO SOUND.

With the M-audio conrol panel, on the OUTPUT tab, I can see levels on the "1/2" meter, but no sound is coming out of the speakers.

Any help?

OK, fixed it.

Looks like the brainiac at Radio Shack hooked me up with the wrong set of parts.
