These little mics have a powerful punch for such a little mic! I'm really enjoying the bass on these!

Yep, I think they are great too.
Where you will really notice is for ambient recording. Try running these for a family visit, or for an acoustic show. Then you'll see how natural they sound!
No, I"m not paid by the company, just the happy owner of two pairs of these...

How much dinero do you want to spend? The DPA's cost A LOT more. I'm pretty sure 1 DPA cost more than both B3's.

Personally I prefer the DPA sound...but they are a little more expensive. The B3 is a nice mic too.

What about the Nevatons?
I like what I've heard from those.
I also like the b3 samples that Richard had on his pages.
-
^ I think the biggest diff is that the Nevatons, to date, aren't being run by anybody terminated in a 1/8" stereo miniplug (correct me if I'm wrong), whereas both the 406x and B3s are. I don't know if it's not possible with the Nevatons or if nobody has tried it, but obviously having to provide P48 and full-size XLRs for them makes them somewhat less low-profile and a bit more cumbersome to deal with generally. I have not heard any recordings with the Nevatons myself but they have lots of fans it seems.

Good point sir.

Mike B's got the russian mics. Have you ever used the b3's, Mike?

Nope, but I wouldn't mind trying them someday.

Yes the bass response is fantastic. I have the red band low sensitivity type and they are the best sounding mics I have heard, not just for the bass but across the whole frequency spectrum. Just a touch of bass roll-off needed (60-70Hz @ 6dB per octave) and everything else is sweet.
