Title: Need DPA mic bar suggestions
Post by: phil_er_up on November 29, 2010, 05:14:34 PM
Have DPA4022 mics with the XY/ORFT mic bar. I would like to get a Mic bar where I can point to the outside of stacks for the DPA mics. Does anyone have any suggestion?

I found these at guitar center.

Also, how do you connect the DPA mic to the Mic bar?

Thanks.

DPA makes some shock mounts that are designed to hold the capsule using a rubber ring that fits in the mounting lips.  I've seen these used with a regular stereo bar.  They are not as low profile as I generally like.

Another option would be to use the little clamps sold by Schoeps (like the SGC but there is a metal one with screw lock) that can grasp the little post behind the capsule.  I have 4023s and they work for that configuration but I'm not sure if the 4022 has enough to grasp.  If you use two of those on each end of a threaded bar hold by a schoeps A20S you can have a really tight little mount.

edit: Another option for the clip is the neumann SG109, which may be the one with the thumb screw that I was thinking about.

A vark bar (http://www.posthorn.com/Macvk_4.html) is also an option.

The model shockmounts for the DPA 402X series are the CSM4000.

Shameless plug : I have a pair of brand new in box CSM4000's for sale in the YS if you are interested in going this route.

You can stuff two of the csm4000s into both sides of a single shockmount (schoeps a20s or busmann cheapies) for a lower profile setup.   As a DPA owner I've thought above having derlin two piece sleeves machined to make the 4022 rear end the same size as the 4023.   The rear exiting housing on the 4023 works with Schoeps kwonbars for your quick configuration needs. One day I may get off of my butt and make it happen.

with the 21s/22s, you need the CSM4000

if you had the 23s, you could use a vark bar and the schoeps sgc clips because of the lemo

Thanks all for your responses.

Naybee I may be interested in yours. Do you have a vert bar for sale too?

I do not have a vert bar for sale but with the CSM4000's you can use any t-bar you like, including the ones you linked.

I may be unloading my CSM4000s since I just moved to a pair of Rycote INV-6s.  Anyone have any sense of a fair asking price for the CSM 4000 used?
