Hi again everyone ,
Just wondering , anyone here use the Sony MZ-H1 MD recorder before ?
If so , what mic's give the best sound on this ? I only have the Sony " T " shaped one .

I dont normally say this but yeah take a look at my December deals for gear. The MZ-H1 is a great recorder to start out I would recommend my ca-14 mics and a battery box as the preamp in the MZ is good for most things. Look for Church Audio in the retail section. If you have any questions let me know. The T mic you have will not cut it for live recording of loud bands.

Thanks alot Church-Audio ! Im next on the list for the " Gear Package "

have you to thank for that also . You are most appreciated .
And quite knowledgeable , pardon my spelling , in audio recording .

LOL I dont know about "quite knowledgeable" there are many people here that know more then I do about live concert taping. I just make gear, these guys are the ones out in the field using it. I rarely tape shows because I am ether mixing them or making gear lol.. Brian actually was the one that made this gear available. He is a great guy.. I got your pm I will answer a few questions here..
As for recording software I use soundforge.. I use lots of other high end programs you dont need.. There are also some freeware programs around that I understand from people here work quite well. I hope some people will chime in with the freeware software that they use. The one tip I will use with editing always make a backup copy and a working copy of the show you want to edit. Less is more the more you eq, compress, limit or gate. The more your music will sound unnatural. Try and do as little as possible.. When working with a track take a careful listen make a list of what bugs you the most. Too bassy to much treble ect.. Somethings you can change some things you can not. Experience will come with time and this is THE BEST place to learn about live recording. Ask your questions in a polite respectful manor and I guarantee you someone here will answer them. We dont ever sell our recordings.. EVER often referred to as "bootlegging" we dont use that word EVER... We dont talk about "stealth" techniques in public we only discuss them in pm or email. Remember these three things and you will be just fine here. Also we do expect you to buy us a beer or two if we ever see you in the field.. :)

There's no such thing as an MZ-H1 recorder. I assume you mean the MZ-RH1. Its a great recorder.
I've made great recordings with Church Mics > Battery Box (or Church Pre) > MZ-RH1. Just don't try to power the mics with its plug in power.
Your recordings have been so so because your Sony mic is mediocre at best. Try Church mics. You'll be amazed at the difference.

I feel like a complete 45 year old idiot !
RE - Church Audio - To ease your mind , im no b--tle--er and have never
" sold " any recording . Those people are , well , im abit more mature to call names but lets
just say that i do not agree with the selling of recordings . And i completely understand your concern .
Rest assured i don't do that ever ! Most my recordings are " Field " recordings and natural sound .
However , i do record my friends band and some of his friends bands . They do some soundboards
but like to get a " Live " feel to help adjust their sound . Im just new to it all .
Thanks to the community here , what a great place for info and tips .
