Im looking at getting a new rig, nothing too flash, i like to just tape casually and keep it pretty basic and easily stealthed
have been running a Sony ECM-717 > Iriver H320 but have lost a bit of love for taping as just not happy with results,
Ive been looking at moving to a set of Church Audio CA-14 > Sony PCM-M10 due to size etc..
so i guess that gives a bit of idea of price range looking at
I usually tape in indoor arenas and outdoor festivals, would i be best to go for Omni or Cards?
Am also in New Zealand, so shipping costs come into it
heres some of my previous results http://garynz.blogspot.com/
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Out doors far away cards.. Out doors close up to the stage / sound system you can use Omni or card depending on what you want to try and capture if you want a sense of being there omni mics will provide a real sense of space and dimension.. If your looking for clean audio with less audience then the cards are the way to go. The best deal I have is my ca-14 package I just put them on sale for $249.99 for the remainder of December.

If you're going incognito the CA-14s are a little bit more of a challenge and will require some doings involving hats. The CA-11s and similar mics of that size and form factor are a little easier; can fit on glasses, etc. The -14s have built in screens which is going to make them stick out if you do anything other than a hat-type thing.

You need a battery box if you want to tape loud shows.
