Title: High/Low pass filters
Post by: Napo on December 12, 2010, 02:00:03 PM
Hi, there;

despite the name been self-explainatory, I have got confused on the high/low pass filters.

I want to eliminate coughs and some phone interferences in my recording. Without eliminating them one by one, I would like to use a filter to cut the picks produced by this rough noise.

Which filter should I use?
is there such a filter in Wavelab? which one?

Thanks in advance
Mauro

High Pass = allows only higher frequencies to pass through. (cuts lows)
Low Pass = allows only lower frequencies to pass through (cuts highs)

Coughs are very difficult to remove from recordings because of their wide frequency range.  It's not possible to remove these noises with HPF's or LPF's.  Same goes for phone interference.

Good luck.
