If I plan on recording mostly 2-3 hour gigs in a single sitting, any advantages to recording to a microsd card vs recording with the internal memory?
-
The main advantage is that a MicroSD can be easily replaced when it finally goes bad, while the internal memory is soldered in.
Another potential advantage (this does apply to the LS-10 I have, but I don't know whether the PCM-M10 is the same way or not): putting the card into an external card reader may result in faster transfer to your PC.

If you're st**lthing, it's easier to remove an external card, either as a precaution, or if you're apprehended and asked to submit the card.

When I checked this, the card reader was more than four times faster than going straight from the M10.
Another advantage to having a memory card in addition to the built-in memory is that if the card gets full (or fails), you have a hassle-free reserve...

I don't have the microsd card here, but i think that is class 4 and my reader is a Kingston 19-1, I don't see any differences. I tested my card reader with a compact flash card and fly!

If you get a class 4 or better memory card, you'll find it transfers faster in an external reader than from the M10.
