Title: Shure A27M Vert Bar parts issue -NEVERMIND
Post by: Rockinman59 on February 05, 2011, 12:35:51 AM
I think I finally lost the tiny thread that you can unscrew out of the bottom of this vert bar.   Depending on which mic stand I use, I have to unscrew this little thread.  I've never lost it in 4 years.  I find it every time I think I've lost it and it's usually stuck on the mic stand thread but not this time.

I also have another A27M bar that has no thread and is totally open so I use that one to screw onto a clamp with a 5/8 thread.

Where can you get these threads, especially the tiny one I just lost?

Thanks for any help.   I have less than a week to get one or I can't use my normal stand.

sounds like you are talking about a 5/8" to 3/8" or 1/4" thread adapter.

You can get one from many places for a couple bucks.

You'll have to search here or Google FTW since I don't have a link handy.

I've always picked up those adapters at a local music store. They are cheap/small enough that it makes sense to buy a few and carry some for backup.

And I'm 100% certain that (unless they changed something along the way) that adapter didn't come with the vert bar. I've owned 2 A27M's and neither came with an adapter.

So Shure wouldn't carry it probably.   I have a Guitar Center in my area, I can check with them. Now watch, as soon as I get another one, I'll find the one I lost!

Thanks guys for all the help and direction

Update:  Once again I'm stupid lol.  The damn thread is attached to the tip of my mic stand. This has happened before but last night while setting up I could swear the vert bar wouldn't screw on.  It was dark as usual when you try to set up in venues and I was trying to set up quickly.

I was just going to look in my trunk to see if it came off the mic stand and in looking at it in daylight, it looked like the thread was on it, and sure enough it was the the vert bar screws on just fine.  Sorry for wasting you time!   I will check with Guitar Center or Home Depot to get a couple of extras since I'm always using 2 different stands with different tips.

Thanks guys

Tom

I suggest you skip home depot. You'll have a hard time matching thread count it is 5/8ths 16 for mic stands and the wrong thread count will chew up the threads in the vert bar.

Yeah, I noticed that 5/8"-27 is something you can't find at your local hardware store. How did mic stands end up with a thread pitch incompatible with everything else?

Found it on B&H Photo Video after searching on Google just like you said.   $2.49 for the 1/4" and $5.20 for the 3/8".  Should have thought of them first.  They have everything!
