Title: GPK and MRK files...what are these?
Post by: Sterling on February 21, 2004, 02:53:42 PM
Everytime I use wavelab, put in marks, convert to flac, there's always these files flopping around. What are they? Do I need them? Thanks

I believe those files assist wavelab in opening files faster - i think they are basically notes about the waveform that lets it recognize and open them faster.  Without the files it will still work fine, but slower.

The .gpk is a peak file that helps wavelab load the file faster or immediately, the next time you open it.

The .mrk is a mark file that remembers where marks are in the file so they will be there the next time you open the file. This way the marks you put in a waveform aren't embedded in the saved data.
