Title: HOW DO YOU AVOID OR TAKE THE BASS BUZZ OFF OF YOUR RECODING?
Post by: Guitarfreek2006 on April 04, 2011, 11:48:00 AM
Every time I record a gig the bass completly destroys it. It drowns out the rest of the music. I have recorded at small venues and large venues and I cant seem to avoid this problem. I have a great Robin Trower recorded gig but it has the same issue. How can I take the bass off or lower it without destroying the rest of the gig?

What mics (and other equipment) are you using? Have you tried doing EQ after the fact?

Sample?

I did some research on this and found that most of the forums said the same thing. The sound was to loud for the mic therefore distorting the sound which is unfixable. So what type of small recording equipment that is easily concealed would be able to handle loud concerts? Preferably cheap....I am broke with a family...Thank you.

try to get en external preamp or a battery box and run good mics via the battery box into the line-in of the tascam. Problem is the high SPL levels of the concerts are overloading the internal mics.

popular and value choice: Church audio 9100 or 9200 preamp, or ugly bbox, CA14 mics and you are set.
