More info is needed to help with your diagnosis. When you recorded the music, did you see the level meters moving on the R-09's meter? If so, your mics were functioning, so maybe the issue is with the SC card.
If you didn't have any levels, then perhaps you weren't powering the mics properly. Your microphones need to be powered in order to function properly. On the R-09, you have the option of plugging your microphones into two jacks; Line In, or Mic In. If you used Line In, you wouldn't have had anything to power the mics since apparently you didn't use an external preamp or battery box. If you used mic in, that does provide voltage to power the mics, but oftentimes it's not enough for loud rock concerts and your mics will distort. (Note this wasn't your problem though since you apparently had no levels). To prevent that, most people get an external powering solution, such as a battery box (which just provides phantom power only) or a preamp (which provides phantom power AND signal gain). In that case, you should use the Line In jack.

sorry about not adding all the info
i also used the mic in not the lin in when conecting the mics
i saw the words rec in the bottom corner of the recorder and the numbers were moving when it was in this mode
i didnt notice the meter bars i dont even know how i would tell
when i look at the recorder in the top left side i see 00:00:00 and in the top right i see 01:56:21
i hope this answers your questions thanks for the help so far

This photo shows playback mode but did the L - R display meters move when you were recording?
The link below is a manufacturer interactive demo of the r-09.

I assume you've hit Record and then Play (which starts the recording). There is a gain level adjuster on the side that will change the volume of input - have you tried increasing that?

thanks everyone i did hit record and the red light was flashing so i hit it again and it was a steady red light
it was kinda hard to see in the room i was recording in and i didnt notice and l or r bars moving

are you certain you had the mic plug inserted into the jack all the way..? I did that exact thing once.. I didnt have it "snapped" in all the way and lost an entire show. Maybe the mics have a bad connection and the signal isnt making it into the recorder..
also, photos of the mics may help since you dont know what they are.
