just wondering who has the cheapest price on a unused matched stereo pair of AKG 1000's
-
i think the c1000's have been discontinued by akg, but might be found new, but i dont think you can find matched pairs, as akg has good QC control, so go to ebay and buy 2 of them

akg doesn't offer matched pairs. I'd just get some off the 'bay or go to one of the big chain stores if you have to have new ones.

There are brand new pairs on eBay all the time...still in the shrinkwrapped boxes. Usually in the $250 - $300 range for a pair.

IMHO, recordings with the c1000 mics are too thin. the bass response is cut and always need some sort of post-remastering.
for the same $ range, you may want to look into other AKG line or other brands like AT, Oktava, etc.
