Title: Lets see pictures of your Sony Pcm m10 in action.
Post by: darkfry on June 04, 2011, 12:32:45 AM
Whenever you search google images for the Pcm m10 all you get are the stock images from Sony , I want to see the recorder in action.

So while that is a cool pic...  the topic is..  How do I say this...  Who cares?  It's just another commodity recorder, from a mega corporation.  Cool rig pics are interesting.  But that it is the m10 and not some other recorder?  :shrugs:

And..... Why create a new TS account just to hype the m10?  I mean, who creates an account here and as their first post says "Post pics of the m10!"  Seems like just another form of spam, and in fact people are paid to go on forums and post about products.  They generally make some fluff posts to gain "credibility" first.  All ten of your posts are about the m10, and they are fluff posts.  Nothing about alternate mics, noise levels, etc.  Just fluff.

The m10 actually has a clock problem and Sony has completely ignored it.  That's the bigger issue - there is really very little support or customer service from Sony.  It is a faceless mega-corp where you can't get in touch with anyone.    In that respect, it seems far worse than any other recorder vendor.  The other companies are tiny in comparison.

The clock problem may be insignificant to some, but it is a serious issue to others.

But, oddly, none of your posts asked if there are any issues with the sony.

Yes. Please start using the thread dedicated to the m10 and stop making new threads.

I wish I was paid to hype up a product that was released years ago, and I did buy one yesterday, and how can sony fix the problem with the clock if the firmware is not updateable?

as covered in the other threads, it's likely Sony will do nothing about it. While the clock issue sucks it does not prevent the recorder from recording and/or playing back.

You suddenly know a lot about the m10....    Who says the firmware cannot be updated?   Such a limitation is almost unheard of.  There is a big difference between unwilling and unable.

Its possible that the rom on the sony pcm m10 does not allow writes. And I believe I read that the firmware can't updated.

Again, almost unheard of these days.

And that does not excuse not fixing the new units.

again...
maybe because out of ALL the M10s sold
there are relatively few that have this so called problem
I bought 2 units in the last year and neither had the problem  ::)

Yeah, exactly what I fixed.  It is not a "so called" problem, it's a problem.  Whether or not you have experienced it, and whether or not you think it's worth following-up, it's still a problem.  Many people have encountered it...And the fact that you haven't is sort of immaterial.  There are lots of people who haven't had problems with their DR-680 or DR-2d too, although I think you'd agree that for those that have a problem, it's a problem...

Here's my M-10 about to finish off a DR2d using Excalibur.  Almost a 27-minute fight and the battery meter still showed full.

the Dr-2d's battery died in a few minutes  :D

I recently purchased a DR-2d and didn't update the firmware  :-\ ... I got 35 minutes on OLD NiMHs
then the DR-2d crapped out and I just received a new one
I'm still anxious to try it with an EnergizerXP8000 and a cable for those SBD/AUD MTXs

@Everyone Else: I'm glad to see the thread is back on track.  Will try and take some pictures when I'm out running my M10 this summer at some festivals.

Actually it's not a problem anymore, just leave the damn thing ON for 48 hours on batteries or the power adapter, and tell me if you still have the clock issue!
